French Parisian-born saxophonist Alex Terrier fell in love with music at an early age. First studying classical piano he got hooked on Jazz after listening to Duke Ellington big band. Picking up the saxophone, his major influences were the Jazz greats - specifically Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane. Terrier graduated from the National School of Music (Evry, France) and Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) where he thoroughly studied Western European music and Jazz. By age 30 he had recorded 2 albums as a leader, "Stop Requested" and "Roundtrip", and 10 albums as a sideman. He is an active, touring musician leading his own projects in both North America and Europe and he is also an in-demand sideman. In the Jazz scene Alex Terrier has been heard on recordings and/or performed alongside greats such as the Mingus Big Band, Lionel Loueke, George Garzone, Esperanza Spalding. In contrast, in the pop/world scene he has performed with Israeli singer Idan Raichel and Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Toure. Having a love affair with the latin music Alex Terrier plays with Roberto Fonseca, Javier Zalba, Lukmil Perez, Felipe Cabrera and is a member of Martin Vejarano's band Chia. ![]() In addition, Alex Terrier is an official artist and clinician for Lebayle Mouthpieces, Rico Reeds, BG France and Keilwerth Saxophones.
